Take a load off your feet
Winter starts to drag on pretty hard right about now so I always actively look for ways to cheer myself up. If you've followed current events for the past six months then this article will either make your day or spike your blood pressure, depending on your sense of humour.
However, as far as sure bets are concerned, this clip show of MXC painful eliminations is certain to brighten a gloomy winter day. I remember when sitting in a basement pouring booze down my throat and watching this show was considered a good night. Not much has changed in six years, MXC just isn't on anymore.

Yo chill dude, chiii-iiiil
What is it about Neil Young fans that makes them take criticism of their hero so fucking personally? Seriously, if you even dare to say that you don't like Neil Young in their presence his fans will react as if you had just told them that you saw their mom blowing the garbage man. You will then be forced to the defensive as they furiously try to pick apart your musical tastes and insult you personally. I occasionally enjoy watching people in this state of hysteria but Jesus Christ, grow up and don't be such a bunch of fucking crybabies already. I mean come on, Neil Young is not THAT awesome. He's mostly a pretentious queef who charges like 300 dollars to go to his live shows. Musically, his voice can be described most generously as being slightly less annoying than a constantly running power saw. These points are not a matter of opinion, I could probably prove how hard Neil Young sucks on a calculator, but then I would be smashed over the side of the head with a water bong. Fucking hippies.
Embarrassing
Encobrimento!
I rode beside an MS 13 gang member this morning on the bus. it made me want to go all crazy anarchist -punch and loot and yell like those bad ass little fuckers from the Justice "Stress" video. I've been listening to a lot of covers lately, because I'm unavoidably annoyed by electro at the moment. Though I can promise that only the best of ANY type of music (probably mostly electro though) will be heard bangin' from the Panda Pad as we will be the host of the weirdest Bat Mitzvah in history this coming Friday. All OldStyle readers are invited. Its -8 in Toronto today kids, grab a hat, scarf, and some of these tunes and COVER UP!
Vampire Weekend - Everywhere (Fleetwood Mac Cover)
Ruby Isle (Feat Amy Dykes) - Solsbury Hill (Peter Gabriel Cover)
Grizzly Bear- Graceland (Paul Simon Cover)
Oh, and Juda found this and its fucking the coolest song I've ever heard. Ever.

school is for fools
this one is going to be a little music heavy, but if you stick with it, there is a ton of good music. First up is the Fred Falke I mentioned earlier. All of these songs have been stuck on repeat for the past week or so, if i got some more blank cd's i could be listening in the car but alas i am very lazy and this isn't going to happen for at least another week when my current cd line up becomes truly unbearable.
(since i know a lot of you are lazy I always post my favorite tracks first in line for each little set of songs)
Roy Davis Jr. feat. Erin Martin - I Have A Vision (Fred Falke Remix) (320)
Alesha Dixon - The Boy Does Nothing (Fred Falke Remix)
Eric Prydz - Pjanoo (Fred Falke Remix)
here are some demo tracks from the new Gorillaz album in 320 kbs, i am feeling it all, some of the songs remind of early Go Team!
Gorillaz - Broken (Demo)
Gorillaz - Electric Shock (Demo)
Gorillaz -Stylo (Demo)
now here are the singles, all very high recommendations on all of them
Dead Prez - Hip Hop (Diplo Remix)
Hot Chip - Transmission (Joy Division Cover) (love this one)
Röyksopp - Happy Up Here (off their new album)
David Bowie - Rebel Rebel (Soulwax Re-Edit)
Surkin - Ghetto Obsession (beta version)
Boys Noize - Let's Buy Happiness (Proxy Remix)

30% of the people I work with are named Bob
This has got to be the most boring Friday in a while because I'm thinking about shit like that. Also I'm thinking about what is going to happen to guys like Jon Stewart now that Bush is gone. He's gotta be like "Yay, Bush is gone, but also half of my fucking act. Shit!" I don't know if everybody on the planet has seen this blog yet, but Photoshop Disasters is definitely one of the best out there.
Greatest 911 call I've heard in a while.
This clip is from a Simpsons episode that was on the other day. I have had the song stuck in my head ever since. Been walking around like "I'm an amendment to be..." Fuck. Awesome take on the old Schoolhouse Rock videos.

metal up-chuck.
Here are a couple of semi-metal recent finds for me:
Genghis Tron is kind of whack. Electronic influenced metal-ish kind of stuff. Weird sound but super original and somehow really catchy. I can listen to the ending of this song a million times over and it makes me jizz my pants everytime. Just one of those melodies that kind of boggles the mind and gives you a wtf moment and in wtf...where does this shit even come from? sort of way.
Genghis Tron - Board Up the House
The Number Twelve Looks Like You I had heard of before; even more whack. Tried listening to it and couldn't get into it. Too whack for my taste. Upon a recent listen to their not so new anymore album I have apparently found a new appreciation for music that doesn't make any sense, but kind of makes sense, but not really so stop thinking about it so hard. This is one of their more paletable tracks.
The Number 12 Looks Like You - Grandfather
eat it
Huoratron - $$ Troopers from New Judas on Vimeo.
a very cool video for a very good song, so hard
and a new Justice track? don' t know for sure if its them 100% yet, but i am pretty sure, and this para one track shows just how good he actually is. A real slow burn start up. Its off a soundtrack he did for a movie. I ll look the movie up, probably worth watching just for the music because the dialogue i am sure will be in french.
Justice - We Kids (radio rip)
Para One - Finale
A bunch of new Fred Falke stuff should be up in the next few days.
and are world might be a giant hologram, for the article click HERE.

When I see a grown man chasing a woman down an alleyway with a butcher knife and a hard-on, I figure he's not out collecting for the Red Cross.
i always bring up tats and bikes to my parents, and get the same response, if i want to live on my own without assistance, and then i think how long i could last in my truck........ maybe when there dead or i have shoved them off into some home and i am preferring the inheritance, because i don't see myself becoming self sufficient for a good chunk of time.
i posted Blackdisco a couple of days ago, but i just found a new track, which is really tight, a little ADD but its soooo good there is a little beat running most of the song that i am really feeling, alot harder, than the other song i posted...sounds kinda familiar to other electro acts near the start but it comes into there own later.

Weekend video picks
This afternoon at work I was kind of fucking the dog, to use the parlance of our times, for about twenty minutes when I came across THIS internet addiction test. Upon getting through only about a quarter of the thing I couldn't stop my mouth from loudly uttering "fuck you." Keep in mind that I share an office, so this was not the innocent seeming little slip-up it may have been. But what am I supposed to say to a question like "How often do you fear a world without the internet would be boring, empty, and joyless?" Jesus, I've already got cigarettes and alcohol to deal with and after that question I'm beginning to think the internet is a problem for me. Here's some videos for the weekend.
Why pervs like Japan so much
This second one is one of my favorites. It consists of a giant douchey nerd narrating himself playing Resident Evil (I think). His comments are so inadvertently funny and full of casual malice that it is a must watch. Need to wait about a minute and a half before he starts killing people though.

Anyone else been having lots of weird dreams lately? You know they are pretty common... like you are thinking about having to go to the bathroom and then all of a sudden you wake up and realise you are about the shit the bed?? Just me? Ah whatever anyways here is a tune called Alice by an Australian dude that goes by Pogo. Also posted more tunes by him.

Complete shinanigans
I haven't even thought about the Beastie Boys in a while, let alone listened to their music, but I guess I have to give them respect on partying after watching this. Even though they paved the way for a lot of those unspeakably terrible white rap/rock bands to exist in the late 90's and early 00's this little display of how to trash a dressing room from the late 80's is pretty neat. Some highlights: throwing entire six-packs around the room, spraying groupies in the face with whipped cream, beer flying everywhere, being escorted out by the cops. If I had've been there I probably would have had my hands over my eyes all like "c'mon guys, these are my school clothes."

Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill.
i think this is pretty funny, and snake Pilssken was a badass, watch all the "escape from's" except for maybe the last one. Kurt Russel as an action hero is one of my favorties.
this track is tight, its a slow start and then starts hitting hard. its produced by Justice, which you will probally be able to tell about 1 minute in, and always use headphones for tunes like these

Oh Devendra Banhardt! Look what you've done. This was the 2008 Guilt By Association Video winner, and I don't know how I'm just coming across it now, but......love it.
Mama's gonna rock you out
I hosently can't think of anyone in the world who was or is more fucking fantastic than Freddy Mercury. Today I searched and searched for a good Queen cover to post and came out fruitless. Its not because nobody is covering their songs, its because bands try and fail miserably. The Flaming Lips attempted to cover Bohemian Rhapsody and it sounds like lame, karaoke-like crap. You just cannot out-do Freddy. Not under any circumstance. Soooooo I've posted a masher instead cos its more badass. RIP sweet prince of rock.
Thursday to Saturday
Log on, lip out- all when you're about to spout. Rig the train, piss your brain, feed the night, flee the flight, dip the dog, strip the hog, flip the fog- wake up alright. Hide the cash, hit the dash, bloody gash- red night-light. Knock the frame, ick-stick flame, pounding up dirt/skirt- hipster stain.

Laughing time is over
There's only a few things that make getting out of bed hungover even a fucking possibility on a Sunday. For one, there's church and then there's grapefruit, my tank of oxygen, and afternoons of The Simpsons. The Simpsons is on Global every Sunday for what seems like the whole afternoon. It proves that God does exist and wants us to be moderately happy. This first clip of Homer's night out is kind of exactly the same as my typical Saturday night. The only difference is that mine doesn't end running around a pole with ladies, instead it ends with me repeatedly slurring "Islington and Eglinton" to cabbie who barely speaks English. Second thing is McBain awesomeness.

I think I'm Christian again.
I'm glad I was sitting down when I encountered this statement because if I wasn't, my knees would have buckled. Oh man, for about half a decade now I have had rage-inducing feelings towards a lot of people that can be best summed up in those very fucking words and all I ever managed to do was sigh or roll my eyes. Four years of a liberal arts degree, sitting through tutorials where ignorant fucktards who have never left Ontario ramble on about how simple the Israel conflict really is, or how Disney movies are poisoning our youth, I really could have used this one-liner back then. Oh well, good things come too late sometimes...anyway check out this collection of humorous church billboards where I found it.
Trolling through my nightmarish itunes folder I found about 17 mp3's that were "untitiled" and "unknown." However, I'm almost positive it's a Diplo mix because I recognize this Paul Simon remix from when I saw him perform 2 years ago on new years.

Also, here's a couple of tracks from TTC that were floating around my itunes. I love listening to these guys because its fun trying to figure out what they're saying, and then realizing you probably don't want to know(?)

Hey Guize, I'm melting, fast.
Winter is great. It gives me a chance to stop melting away into those beautiful blue rivers that flurish around the Alberta/British Columbia area. It really gives me a chance to bulk up, but the worst part is when those giant tourist trucks with your people drive all over me, like I'm some sort of amusement, give me some resepect.
I'm going back to listening to music to drown out the noisy tourists ontop of me, good thing its quiet deep down inside the ice where I spend most of my time.
I bet your reading this going, glaciers listen to music? Zonkers, I wonder what kind?
Well, this is what kind.

This is why I am suspicious of guys who are really into cars
Man, that makes me both shudder and laugh at the same time which creates some sort of a sensation similar to the sneeze. Anyway, right when I saw that I thought of a really funny Kids in the Hall sketch that deals with the same man/car love. Here is that.
The War On Drugs
I'm not going to be discussing the politics of the drug world today. Instead, maybe this neato band from Philly will inspire old-style readers to not try meth or heroin. I thought about this and then immediately thought "Oh, shit...what if the majority of our readers really enjoy reading this blog while under the influnce of amphetamines and/or opiates?" Lets be serious, nobody reads this shit anyway, so maybe we can start selling drugs through the blog to attract junkies. This would obvi. be beneficial to both parties as the junkies would have their drugs and we would have an army of the most convincingly herion chic devotees who have amazing music taste and carry swtich blades and dont require food. But seriously, I love this band.

Sweet Action
Well then. After a festive holiday season I feel as though things need to come back into balance. The other day I had two young fellows from the church of Jesus Christ stop me in my driveway to talk about their favourite philosophical and religious figures. Well it was nice for a couple minutes but I quickly got bored and told them to stop wasting their time. Afterward I was kind of thinking about how it may have been more fun to actually pretend that I am some kind of religious fanatic just to see how they would react. An interesting experiment for next time I guess. Above is a clip talking about Norwegan Black Metal; the core of satanic ideals within the metal community. I'm personally not really into it, the music itself isn't that great for the most part but it's still kind of interesting to watch.
Also, a note on the source of this video and a pretty cool site for other interesting material: www.vbs.tv
I think it's linked to vice magazine, i dunno?

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig
I hope everyone had a fun New Years, I feel as though I have been drinking almost every day since my last exam, and I wake up with a sore liver every morning, only a couple more party days and its back to school, I suggest everyone use them wisely. I will be. Carlsberg tall cans are on sale for $1.90 at your local LCBO, buy them before the local winos find out they are as cheap as Laker ICE.
Here are some new tracks, they may not be new new, but there new too me. The first one comes with my highest recommendation, I would say 9/10.
Math Head - Get Hype
This next one is more a classic track feel to it, very high repeat listening value. I hope you like it, I do.
